Today , the name Lolu would easily ring a bell in the Nigerian entertainment scene , all thanks to the recently concluded Big Brother Naija reality television show. Even though the young man has succeeded in attaining fame , he is sad that his mother is not alive to see how far he has gone in life.
In a chat with Saturday Beats , the reality show star said that even though his mother died about eight years ago , he is still pained that she did not live long enough to reap the fruit of her labour .
He said , “ The last thing my mother said to me was , ‘ call me tomorrow after your sister’ s exams , I love you . ’ It has been eight years but it still feels like yesterday , I had to grow up really quickly and be more responsible .
Sometimes , I try to find comfort in the fact that she had to go for me to grow. As you may be aware , I’ ll rather have her here but I have a great father and my siblings are the best anyone could wish for , Olaide and Ololade especially . I hope my mum is looking down and smiling . Naturally , I am sad but it is the reality of my life and I am doing my best to handle it . I am her only son and the bond we shared was quite strong. I love her more every day but mum ’ s little boy has to keep his head up and keep pushing till I ’ m successful as she always hoped and prayed that I’ d be. ”
Lolu told Saturday Beats that he has no plans for marriage at the moment simply because he still has a lot to accomplish and he does not want to be distracted. “ As much as I crave to be a really good husband and dad , I am not in a hurry to get married . At this point , it is imperative that I focus on my career as much as I can . Anto and I will remain friends, and if we decide to be together , then it will be something I would envisage would lead to the altar . It is a privilege to have all the love I get from the ladies , I try to be as friendly as I can but also quick to draw the line. I am blessed to have such a followership from women all over the world and the support they show keeps me going, ” he said .
